about sfm

Hey Salty Farm Fam! We are JL & Rachelle Dunahee. In October 2021, God put a huge calling on our hearts to sacrifice the material and excess to serve those with little to none. We stepped out in faith in a big way! We sold everything we owned and bought a motorhome to live in. We relocated with our kids to Panama City Beach, FL from Southern Illinois to serve the homeless veterans and homeless population. Believe us when we say that we prayed hard for God to lead us to the right place.  I mean, the beach is amazing, but we didn't  want it to be where we wanted to go, we wanted it to be where God wanted us to go!

He kept confirming this is where He needed us.

Upon arriving in Panama City Beach, we quickly learned why. The number of displaced people in this area just keeps rising with the aftermath of Hurricane Michael and the rising housing costs. Furthermore, the homeless shelter got wiped out by the hurricane and, frankly, there aren't many resources for them in this area.

Salty Farm Ministries is continuing to build relationships with faith partners, other organizations serving the homeless, corporate partners, and many others that God has so graciously placed in our lives. We are building an army to serve those in need.

We have started serving our displaced friends through our mobile food ministry. We go out weekly to serve them right in the streets, meeting them right where they are. We get to learn their names, hear their stories, love on them like Jesus does, feed them, pray with them, and just see them.

Our next mobile ministry will be mobile shower units to bring hot water to the streets loaded with hygiene items, fresh clothes, socks, and shoes. Our hope is that our mobile shower units will also contain laundry facilities to clean their current clothing.

Our big goal is to bring a COMMUNITY of affordable housing options, aka tiny homes, for our currently displaced friends. The tiny home COMMUNITY will be created to meet basic needs so the healing and thriving process can begin. It will offer a community building with medical & mental health services, coffee house, and large dining area with full kitchen. Also a community farm for fresh garden foods for sustainability. Outdoor kitchens, fire pits, worship center, and memorial garden will further create community experiences for our new neighbors. "Missionals" that reside in the community will further create discipleship opportunities through small groups, fellowship, and counsel. Within our community, our neighbors will have dignified income opportunities through a plethora of job opportunities to allow our neighbors to use their God given talents and gifts in a purposeful way. Ultimately the community will serve to bring about purpose and love to our surrounding community, our ministry partners, and our neighbors.

Alongside our tiny home community, we hope to offer an RV & primitive campground for those that want to visit our incredible community and beautiful beaches. Of course, our hope is that this will also provide a place for our missions groups from all over to join in our efforts to cultivate kindness in our community.

Salty Farm Ministries calls on everyone to #cultivatekindness right where you are in any way you can!
